Casual games are games that can be played with either one button on the mouse or on a mobile phone, they are usually played by people who are on breaks at work or college or people that are using them on they phones. Casual games cost a lot less to make rather than games that are made for games consoles such as ps3 and Xbox 360, casual games are more often played by gamers that are older than traditional gamers which are younger, studies have shown that 74% of people that play casual games are older women. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casual_game
Some casual games that are online are limited trials for a game so the player can get a taste of the game and then buy and download a full version of the game, their are some of these game on smartphones such as angry birds which has a free trial and a seasonal package that can be added to the full game, the full game is only 69p on the app store for the iPhone, iPad and the iPod touch.some casual games can become really addictive such as bloons tower defence
One of the first casual games was pac-man but its graphics and sounds were very basic but i was a very addictive game, its been estimated to have been played over 10 billion during the 20th century, in 1989 Nintendo released the first hand held games console which was called the game boy and its first game was tertis which was a free game already installed on the game boy and was an instant success and it Nintendo's gaming success and also made other companies make the hand held consoles such as Apple making their devices compatible to play games on such as flash and shockwave games. mac and windows have both also put their own games on they operating systems such as solitaire, minesweeper and peggle. http://bloonstowerdefence.net/bloons-tower-defence/bloons-tower-defence-4/
Synopsis
For my idea the game would be based on the bloons tower defense, i would use this as a base because it is a highly addictive and it also uses good graphics and sounds, where as other strategy game use better graphics but because of this the game runs slower, their are two different versions of the defense games one is where the balloons in this case are fixed to a track and the player puts them round the track where as some other games the player has to decide where the things are going and set up there own track using the weapons, what i like most the game is the fact that the game on the internet is free but after you've done a few levels it asks the player whether they would like to buy a full version of the game for either their smartphone or a download for their computer. Another reason why i would use this type of casual game is because only the shooters and the things that get shot at move unlike 3rd person shooters or racing games the defense where everything moves around the player which takes a lot more processing power and makes the game run slowly. For my version of the game i would use the same principle as bloon tower defense but i instead of using balloons to shot at i would use either characters from films such as toy story and make the good characters the shooters and the bad characters would be the things to shoot at base the game from different parts of the movie or i would do an alien vs humans version which are the normal style of this kind of game.
Video games are very popular with most people, the first video game was made in 1947 a "Cathode ray tube Amusement Device Inspired by radar display tech, it consisted of an analog device that allowed a user to control a vector-drawn dot on the screen to simulate a missile being fired at targets, which were drawings fixed to the screen. Their is five different generations of the games console, the first generation of video game consoles lasted from 1972, with the release of the Magnavox Odyssey, the second generation or the 8 bit era began in 1976 with the release of the Fairchild Channel F and Radofin 1292 Advanced Programmable Video System.http://www.retrogamingcollector.com/Vintage-Consoles/Radofin1392.html
The third generation began on July 15, 1983, with the Japanese release of both the Nintendo Entertainment System in the rest of the world and Sega SG-1000, the fourth generation or the 16 bit era began on October 30, 1987 with the Japanese release of Nippon Electric Company's (NEC) PC Engine and finally The fifth-generation era also known as the 32 bit era and occasionally, after the release of the Nintendo 64, the 64 bit era and more rarely the 3D era) refers to the computer and video games, video game consoles, and video game handhelds available at stores.
